The competition program required the existing building to be adapted and a new structure for house offices and hospital out-patient departments. The new wing consists of a series of low buildings alternating with covered courtyards and linked by a large glass-walled passageway. The project has been conceived to enhance the passive use of solar energy and to exploit natural ventilation.
